July 15 Cake PhilosophyOne of the most fascinating lectures I had in Statistics was on the topic of decision making. It is said that in one’s lifetime, half of the decisions he makes had insignificant consequences, while the other half greatly impact his life. However, most people only deal with 25% of decisions with great consideration. By far the biggest factor hindering their decision making is procrastination. I love how statisticians invented a scientific method to break down every step which arrives at the decision, as well as the consequences of each step. Its simplicity holds beauty. I am skeptical of my ability to make the right decisions. 俗话说“三思而后行”。Sometimes I act no differently than a blind man, trusting myself that I see reality based on my gut feelings. But I am not afraid of making mistakes. I have no regrets for the choices I have made—why would I? I am blessed with all the goodness in the world. I have so many people around me caring about me, loving me. I am pursuing my passion for finance and my lifelong dream of building a happy family. Maybe it is the “bottom-line” mentality that’s driving us to such madness. If we constantly live under others’ expectations, we are doomed to carry the burden of failure. 是时候停下来享受过程了。Go have that piece of chocolate cake loaded with calories, I know I will. @VOX Comments (2)
